Lebese heedful of Pirates ‘lethal’ attack

SuperSport United midfielder George Lebese is aware of the dangers Orlando Pirates attackers pose ahead of their upcoming Absa Premiership clash and says they will need to contain them.
SuperSport are set to host The Buccaneers at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Wednesday evening (19h30) as league action resumes following the weekend’s cup activities. This will be Matsatsantsa’s first fixture in 10 days since they Golden Arrows 3-2 away from home, as they also netted a treble for the first time since beating Black Leopards 4-0 in September last year. Lebese, who is in line for his first start of the season, has identified a tactical approach that wiould restrict Pirates from breaking through their defence, while looking to capitalise on the counter-attack.
“Preparation has been going very well, we have ideas on how they’ll want to attack obviously, because they’ve been very lethal this season,” said Lebese. “We have to then try and stop that, and on the other end we have to try and get goals to win the match and get the points.” With Bucs’ attention currently split between domestic and continental duties, the 30-year-old attacker has downplayed any sort of advantage they might have as SuperSport only have the league to focus on at present, after earlier being eliminated from the Nedbank Cup. “I think they have a good squad with a number of good players that they can rotate and, on any given day, can produce results,” he added. “So, it doesn’t really matter if they’ve been playing more or that we have had more time to prepare, but we have to focus on the job and try to get maximum points on the day.
