In honor of Women’s Month, South Africa is excited to welcome Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa for the 15th BRICS Summit.
With a combined 42% of the world’s population, 27% of global GDP, and 20% of international trade, BRICS holds substantial influence.
This marks South Africa’s third time as host, and the country is honored to chair BRICS this year. Under the theme “BRICS and Africa: Partnership for Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development, and Inclusive Multilateralism,” the summit aims to address global needs like economic growth, sustainability, and inclusion.
A series of meetings spanning political, economic, and social cooperation have taken place in the lead-up. Notable was the BRICS Foreign Ministers, BRICS Civil Forum, and other sector-specific discussions.
South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa confirmed readiness to host the summit. As part of the event, the BRICS Business Council’s content-rich program will focus on fostering economic growth, collaboration, investment attraction, and showcasing opportunities.
The BRICS Leaders’ Retreat, a highlight, allows unscripted discussions on global issues. The summit also emphasizes the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance, empowering women entrepreneurs.
The Summit is set to adopt the eGoli Declaration, outlining 2023’s outcomes. This gathering solidifies the BRICS partnership and sets the stage for continued collaboration throughout the year.”
