A South African expat living in Ireland is finding life tough in the UK and warns others about leaving their home country.

Grass may not be greener on the other side for one South African expat, who regrets making a move to Ireland.

In a social media post on X(formerly Twitter), user Thokozane Nala shares a video where the South African expat details the treatment he has received.

The man while acknowledging his privilege of living Ireland, he says its not easy leaving friends and family behind.

“Its not easy too make new friends in this place especially if you’re a South African. Truth be told think twice before you leave home.”
“When you come to another country you will be handled and treated worse than rubbish. I know now how it feels”.

SOCIAL MEDIA REACTION

The post has drawn mixed reactions on social media as many other expacts share similar sentiments, some are saying he should return home, while some say he has lost his ‘white privilege.

@MbaliNzimande12: “He must humble himself and come back home. I can feel the sadness and defeat in his voice.”

@DDT_PM says, “It’s tough being far from home, experiencing loneliness, depression and discrimination when in another country is a reality. Many others share similar struggles globally unfortunately. IT’S TOUGH!!”

@ralefeta1: “Definitely not easy. Don’t know how many times I’ve contemplated coming back home.”
“White South Africans are not really liked globally .

And also in SA they live like kings and queens because of the legacy that apartheid left for them . In other countries they become ordinary people and they struggle” says @TruthChild263
